I’ve always loved butterflies, and in my final semester of college, I had the opportunity to create two projects about them.
One project was an infographic about the Monarch butterfly, a popular species of butterfly that could be facing extinction in the next 20 years. I created the main illustration with colored pencils and scanned it in, and made the remaining illustrations as vectors. See the full infographic here.
The other project was an application created with D3 and Angular. It focused on Monarch butterflies and had a chart created with D3 that showed how the Monarch butterfly population has been decreasing, and a map that showed a popular migration route used by Monarch butterflies. It also had a section on butterflies in general, and a sortable / searchable table created with Angular that showed butterflies in danger (endangered, threatened, etc). See the data visualization project here.
